Text and Image motion – Bike Design from Katie Hughes on Vimeo.
For this additional, non-compulsary workshop, I worked collaboratively with Marco and Ieva, also studying at the University of Huddersfield in their second year of study.
We were presented with the singular term ‘Tandem’ and told to design and animate based upon associable ideas. Deconstruction of meaning led recognition the term can also refer to the arrangement of two objects, their ways and means of interactivity, as well as a signifier of a constructive machine or system.
The bike illustrated and animated above was my individual take, where we all produced individual animations which later collaborated to create a motion poster. Each design supported the sense of interactivity, and an obtained awareness of creative implementation.

This was the result of our motion-based ‘Tandem” poster, where interactive elements were displayed in accordance with one another to each display comparable motion at once. We applied filter overlays to ensure components sat well together stylistically.
This workshop taught me how to collaborate effectively in a group in order to produce a successful outcome. I am very pleased with the piece, as well as the transferable skills I have acquired through partaking in a collaborative project. This was my first collaboration, and I am highly satisfied with our communication, group skills, and abilities to utilise such aspects to work well as a team.
