For this next workshop task, we were required to create a video with purpose and stronger subject, using the editorial effects and techniques learnt in the last session. It was important to match mood with the correct nature to ensure the correct atmosphere and inferable sense is achieved.
As a fan of Twilight, I selected this film series as my subject of focus for this promotional video.
I created all analogue components using associable imagery directly related to the movie. These can be easily recognised as Twilight based images through reputable associable graphics and signified meaning. For instance, sharp, pointed canines are immediately recognised as fangs, which people relate directly back to vampires. A knowledge of such association assisted my choice of iconography selected for this project. My colour choice resolved around reds, and blacks following reflection upon their connotations; black reflects darkness and feelings of horror, while red presents ideas of blood, each of which relate directly to my subject of focus.
I then used these images to formulate the main content of my video.
With additional editing, I then applied filters and effects to create alternate moods. Manipulating darker and stronger tonal values, a more striking and dark approach is seen here, even more relevant to the atmospheric sense I intended to capture within my work.
Presented here is my finalised outcome of this study. Incorporation of video techniques, a knowledge of rhythmic editing, and application of aesthetic ability entailed for an outcome to be produced, clearly promoting my intended subject.
Below I have documented a screen capture of my working document, as well as evidence of my use of transformative effects. These were applied through the use of key frames, entailing for smooth and generative transitions to be achieved. Again, I used rhythmic editing to match the visuals to the beat of the music for heightened effect, as learnt in the last After Effects workshop.
