After Effects Workshop: Induction.

For our initial After Effects induction we created a visual tone poem consisting of solid, block colours. We created this through matching colour with audio, edited to the beat of the sound track.

Achieved through the use of audio markers, these provided accurate indication as to when the image should change in the background. I then used multiple layers of colour, confined within a project timeline. Adjustments of timing allowed these to be matched up with the audio markers, and therefore matched to the tone and beat of the music.

Evidenced above shows my ability to clip footage, or images, and montage these together to create a rhythmic piece of editing. As seen within the screenshots above, direct reference to the audio’s flow is noted, following deliberate visual of the tracks wave-form. I have learnt from this workshop that this is a useful tool, showing when the nature of sound suddenly changes, and therefore indicates when to make a cut, or visual change.

These screen-shots show my playful approach applying stylistic pre-sets onto additional assets, to suit the nature of the sound, and heighten interest in the motion-based outcome. I think I have executed this sufficiently, suiting the style of the track and enriching my skills and abilities with Adobe After Effects.

These screen-shots show a progressive nature of editing, echoing the nature of the sound featured in the background. The incorporation of typographic content provides signified meaning, inducing a new dynamic with regards to the way the visual is interpreted. Again, an experimental asset which, upon review, I am pleased with the final outcome.

A final element I have learned through this workshop is how to render and export video. The result of this initial Adobe After Effects workshop, here is the Vimeo link of my final outcome.
