As an introduction to the software, Adobe InDesign, our initial task/ workshop required us to recreate various posters created by famous designers. This allowed us to learn how to use the interface and features/ tools. These posters are presented below:

The two top posters are created by Josef Muller Brockmann (1951-72) as part of a poster series for the Zurich Tonhalle. The bottom two were created by Rosmarie Tissi (1995) as a poster series for summer concerts.

These were the requirements for document set-up, stating correct dimensions and guidelines to create the perfect grid. This would ensure that the poster could be replicated accurately and precisely.
Documented here is my response, where I learned how to set up a grid accordingly to the document requirements. Margins and bleeds were set up, alongside guides so that I could achieve a poster replica accurately, while knowing how this would appear in print, as well as digitally. This task required me to work with vector objects, frames and basic shapes to industry standards, so that I can achieve the same standards and professionalism within future works.

Through application of such software based principles, I constructed the above replicas of the posters. These taught me how to use stroke, step and repeat, the pen tool and path finder. Through use of such tools and techniques, this entailed for creation of dimensionally and structurally accurate content within the piece. This workshop also taught me how to use colour and swatches appropriately throughout my documents.
